Spain 2026 labor calendar confirms national holidays

The 2026 official labor calendar published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) confirms that August 15, the Assumption of the Virgin, will be a non-substitutable national holiday across Spain. Because the date falls on a Saturday, workers with Monday-to-Friday schedules may not automatically receive a compensatory day off. Eligibility for a substitute holiday depends on individual collective agreements, company calendars, and specific shift patterns.

In the Valencian Community, the remaining holidays for 2026 include June 24 (San Juan), August 15 (Assumption of the Virgin), October 9 (Day of the Valencian Community), October 12 (National Day of Spain), December 8 (Immaculate Conception), and December 25 (Christmas).

A notable long weekend is expected in October; since October 9 falls on a Friday and October 12 falls on a Monday, many will be able to enjoy four consecutive days of rest without using vacation days.
