Spain addresses drug shortages and pharmaceutical regulatory reforms
Spanish healthcare and legal experts are addressing the evolving pharmaceutical landscape, focusing on drug shortages and regulatory reforms. María Micaela Viña Romero, president of the 71st Congress of the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacy (SEFH), noted that while recent data shows favorable progress in high-impact scenarios, it is premature to consider the problem of drug shortages resolved due to its complex and global nature.
Simultaneously, the V Pharmaceutical Law Congress in Madrid is analyzing the transformation of European and Spanish pharmaceutical frameworks. Javier Padilla, Secretary of State for Health, highlighted that proposed legislation such as the Critical Medicines Act and the Biotech Act aims to bolster Europe's industrial capacity, reduce dependencies, and balance innovation incentives with the needs of healthcare systems and patients.
