Spain advances major upgrades of local health clinics and hospitals

The Orihuela city council in the province of Alicante has launched a public tender to completely renovate the Correntías auxiliary medical clinic. The project, overseen by health councilor Irene Celdrán, is budgeted at €232,966 and will modernise the building, improve internal layouts, install new electrical, water, telecom and climate‑control systems and ensure full accessibility for patients and staff.

In Asturias, the regional health minister Concepción Saavedra presented a technical plan to restart the expansion of the University Hospital of Cabueñes in Gijón. The revived scheme foresees a €125 million investment, adding an extra floor, covered accesses, high‑level terraces and larger day‑hospital facilities. After a two‑year halt due to contract disputes, the new project is expected to be tendered this year with construction aimed to begin in 2027.
