Spain advances quantum technology through new research alliances and infrastructure

Spain is advancing its quantum technology capabilities through new research alliances and infrastructure investments. The Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon (INMA), a joint center of the CSIC and the University of Zaragoza, has formed a partnership with Keysight Technologies. This collaboration aims to develop advanced instrumentation and measurement tools necessary to transition quantum research from laboratories to practical technological applications.

Additionally, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) has inaugurated a Quantum Nanofabrication Area at the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM). Supported by an investment exceeding 6 million euros from the PERTE Chip program and the Complementary Plan for Quantum Communications, the facility features advanced nanolithography and metrology equipment. This infrastructure is designed to manufacture and characterize quantum chips and circuits at the nanometric scale, supporting developments in quantum computing, communications, health, and energy.
