Spain allocates €132.3 million to support animal health, plant protection and the wine sector

The Conference Sectorial of Agriculture and Rural Development approved a €132.3 million distribution to Spain’s autonomous communities for two priority lines of the Common Agricultural Policy: animal and plant health programmes and the Intervención Sectorial Vitivinícola for vineyards. Around €18.5 million will fund disease and pest control for livestock and crops, while €113.7 million will back vineyard restructuring, market promotion and modernisation.

Castilla y León will receive €16.54 million, of which €14.33 million is earmarked for viticultural measures, €0.93 million for plant‑health surveillance and €1.28 million for animal‑health programmes. The funding aims to protect livestock, combat agricultural pests, sustain rural economies and help curb depopulation in wine‑producing regions. Minister of Agriculture Luis Planas highlighted the need for a strong, less‑bureaucratic PAC to improve competitiveness and resilience of Spain’s agro‑food sector.
