Spain allocates 560 million euros to digitalize justice system

The Spanish Ministry of Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts has allocated 560 million euros toward the digitalization and technological centralization of the nation's justice system. This investment aims to unify a fragmented system resulting from the transfer of competencies to autonomous communities.

According to State Secretary of Justice Manuel Olmedo, the funding consists of two main parts: 150 million euros from the department's ordinary budget and 410 million euros sourced from European Next Generation funds. The initiative addresses the complexities of a governance ecosystem where justice competencies are partially transferred to 12 of Spain's 17 autonomous communities, involving various actors such as the General Council of the Judiciary and the State Attorney General's Office.
