Spain allocates 7.7 million euros for Fusion for Energy headquarters

The Spanish Council of Ministers has authorized the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities to allocate approximately 7.7 million euros to manage the headquarters agreement for Fusion for Energy (F4E).

Under the agreement, the Ministry will transfer 3.78 million euros to the Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research (Ciemat) in 2026, followed by 3.89 million euros in 2027. These funds are intended to cover expenses related to the facilities provided to F4E, the European Common Agency for ITER and the Development of Fusion Energy.

Spain and F4E signed the headquarters, privileges, and immunities agreement in June 2007. The agreement remains in effect until the dissolution of the agency and dictates the conditions under which Spain provides premises and other assistance. Ciemat has historically managed the rental and property-related costs for these spaces.
