Spain allocates 273 million euros in EU funds for flood recovery

The Spanish Ministry of Finance has allocated 273.2 million euros in European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) resources to 34 local entities as part of the EDIL DANA Plan. This funding aims to repair damage caused by the 2024 floods and strengthen territorial security against future flooding.

The plan will mobilize a total public investment of 287.6 million euros due to a 95% community co-financing rate. The aid covers 95 municipalities, including 69 in the Valencian Community and 26 in Albacete and Cuenca.

Major cities such as Valencia and Torrent will receive up to 12 million euros each. Intermediate cities, including Xirivella, Algemesí, and Cullera, will receive up to 9 million euros. In Xirivella, the funds will specifically support the construction of a new auditorium-refuge designed to serve as both a sociocultural center and a safe emergency shelter for approximately 400 people.
