Spain allocates nearly €4 bn to regions for 2025 deficit, boosting Valencia aid after DANA floods

Valencian President Juanfran Pérez Llorca demanded €5 bn in unpaid social debts and aid from the central government following the 2024 DANA floods, citing missed payments for dependency care, health reimbursements and delayed EU solidarity funds, and urging conversion of the debt into grant‑type assistance.

In response, the Spanish government, through the Commission Delegada for Economic Affairs, assigned an extra €3.788 bn to autonomous communities for the 2025 deficit. Valencia will receive €1.904 bn, Catalonia €1.249 bn, Murcia €0.527 bn, Aragón €87 m and La Rioja €21.8 m. This follows a prior €1.3 bn allocation for DANA recovery, bringing total Valencian support in the fiscal year to over €10 bn. Additional funding for the third quarter of 2026 totaling €6.373 bn was also announced for several regions.
