Spain and Finland form technological alliance in AI and quantum computing

Spain and Finland are strengthening their technological alliance to bolster European strategic autonomy. During a state visit by the Spanish monarchs to Finland, a business delegation met with over 60 companies to promote joint projects in critical sectors.

The cooperation focuses on three strategic pillars: artificial intelligence infrastructure, semiconductors, and quantum and photonic technologies. The initiative aims to increase the continent's industrial and technological capacity through business alliances and innovation initiatives.

The mission included visits to key Finnish technological hubs, such as Nokia's headquarters in Espoo to study the integration of quantum technologies and semiconductors for large-scale AI. The delegation also visited VTT, a leading European applied research center, and Aalto University to explore advanced technology and corporate collaboration.
