Spain and Japan women's handball teams face off in Castilla-La Mancha

The Spanish and Japanese women's national handball teams met at the Macarena Aguilar Municipal Pavilion in Bolaños de Calatrava for an international friendly match. This encounter serves as the first of two friendly matches intended to prepare the Spanish team, known as 'Las Guerreras', for the upcoming European Championship.

Carlos Yuste, the Director General of Youth and Sports for Castilla-La Mancha, attended the event, noting that the Campo de Calatrava region is an ideal setting due to its strong handball identity. He highlighted the regional importance of the sport, which maintains approximately 5,285 federated licenses, including over 1,800 women. The official emphasized that hosting high-level international matches in smaller municipalities helps provide role models for local youth athletes.
