Spain and Morocco seize 4.8 tonnes of hashish in Strait of Gibraltar

The Spanish Guardia Civil intercepted a fast‑boat smuggling operation in the Strait of Gibraltar, recovering 32 bundles (about 1,200 kg) of hashish that had been thrown overboard during a high‑speed chase. A coordinated maritime, aerial and land response was used, and the vessel headed toward Moroccan waters.

Through joint action with the Moroccan Royal Gendarmerie, an additional 89 bundles (approximately 3,577 kg) were seized, bringing the total confiscated haul to 121 bundles weighing 4,777 kg (about 4.8 tonnes). No arrests were reported and the investigation remains open.
