Spain and Pakistan discuss expanding trade and agricultural ties
The Spanish Ambassador to Pakistan, Carlos Aragón Gil de la Serna, met with the leadership of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RCCI) to discuss strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and cultural relations.
RCCI President Usman Shaukat emphasized the importance of enhancing business-to-business linkages and market access. He identified key opportunities for Pakistani exports to Spain, including textiles, rice, ethanol, potatoes, and maize. Conversely, Pakistan seeks to leverage Spanish expertise in modern agriculture, such as precision farming, irrigation systems, greenhouse technology, and water management.
The discussions follow recent consultations regarding the establishment of a Joint Working Group on Agriculture to provide a structured platform for cooperation. During the visit, the Ambassador also participated in celebrations for Pakistan’s Independence Day.
