Spain and Tunisia eye doubling of bilateral trade
Economic exchanges between Spain and Tunisia could double in the coming years if current trends continue, according to the Spanish Ambassador to Tunis, Isidro Antonio Gonzalez Afonso. Spain currently serves as Tunisia’s fourth-largest European trading partner.
There is a growing trend of Spanish companies establishing a presence in the Tunisian market. Key sectors identified for increased investment and cooperation include tourism, agriculture, and renewable energy. The ambassador noted that major international hotel chains and tourism groups are interested in investing in the region.
To support this economic growth, discussions are underway between the Tunisian and Spanish governments to improve air connectivity. The current flight services are considered insufficient, and officials are working to increase airport slots to facilitate easier travel and higher passenger flows between the two nations.
