Spain announces 200,000 euro aid for fisheries organizations
The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has announced a 200,000 euro fund to support professional organizations within the fisheries and aquaculture sectors for 2026. These subsidies, co-financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (FEMPA), aim to strengthen the organizational structure of producer organizations, associations, and interprofessional fisheries groups recognized within the last five years.
Under a competitive bidding process, individual beneficiaries can receive up to 100,000 euros. The FEMPA will cover a maximum of 70% of the aid, with the remaining 30% provided by national contributions. The Ministry noted that these funds are particularly relevant for supporting smaller, newly recognized artisanal fishing organizations to ensure a stable operational foundation during their initial years of activity.
Additionally, new royal decrees have modified the regulatory framework for these aids and updated rules regarding first sales, fleet management, and the governance of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy (PAC) in Spain.
