Spain announces 2026 Alimentos de España wine award winners

The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has announced the winners of the 2026 Alimentos de España awards, recognizing excellence across the national viticulture sector. The awards aim to promote wines protected by Denominations of Origin (DOP) and Protected Geographical Indications (IGP).

In the fortified wine category, ElFino La Honda from Grupo Osborne was named the best wine in Spain. Produced in the Jerez-Xérès-Sherry DOP, this fino is made from Palomino Fino grapes and undergoes approximately twelve years of biological aging using the traditional criaderas and soleras system.

In the rosé category, Inurrieta Mediodía Rosado 2025 from Bodega Inurrieta was recognized as the best rosé in the country. Produced in Navarra, the wine is crafted from a blend of Garnacha Tinta, Cabernet Sauvignon, Graciano, Syrah, and Merlot. This marks the third Alimentos de España award for the Inurrieta winery.

Other category winners include Aires de Garbet 2021 (DOP Empordà) for best red wine, Los Altares 2016 (DOP Rioja) for best white wine, and Cuvée D. S. 2019 (DOP Cava) for best sparkling wine.
