Spain announces 700 new judicial and prosecutor positions
The Spanish Government has announced the urgent processing of two royal decrees to create 700 new positions for judges and prosecutors in 2027. This initiative represents the largest reinforcement of the judicial and fiscal career announced during the current legislature.
The first decree will create over 500 judicial positions, increasing the staff by 7.8%. This includes 172 civil positions, 109 social positions, and 69 criminal positions, along with 87 roles for mixed organs in smaller localities. Additionally, 11 positions will be dedicated to sections addressing violence against women, an area that has seen a 55.4% increase in workload.
The second decree will add 200 prosecutor positions, expanding the Public Prosecutor's Office by 6.6%. The government stated that this operation combines procedural, organizational, and digital reforms to equip the public justice service against current and future challenges.
