Spain announces major 2026 cultural projects, including Biennial selection and artist residencies
The Spanish Ministry of Culture has selected visual artist and sociologist Tete Alejandre’s photographic series “Cargo” for the IX Bienal Mostra Espanha 2026. The project will be exhibited at the Centro Português de Fotografia in Porto, Portugal, from 19 September to 13 December 2026. "Cargo" examines global ports, container trade and the ecological impact of the consumption model, and was produced with a €5,000 grant from the Extremadura regional government.
The Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía (C3A) has opened its call for artistic residencies for the 2026‑2027 term. The program, managed by the Andalusian Ministry of Culture and Sport, invites individual or collective applicants – Andalusian, Spanish or international – to develop creative projects across any contemporary art discipline. Detailed eligibility criteria and disqualifications are outlined, covering legal, financial and ethical requirements.
