Spain approves €101 million boost for national sport federations
The Spanish government approved a royal decree allocating more than €101 million to sport federations, the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE). Minister of Education, Professional Training and Sports Milagros Tolón said the measure creates a “more stable, coherent and effective” financing model that answers a historic request from the sector.
COE president Alejandro Blanco welcomed the support, noting that the funding will let federations plan activities in advance and describing Spanish sport as moving “at cruise speed.” He highlighted recent achievements such as the World Cup, Olympic medals and Paralympic successes, and stressed the need to boost inclusive and female sport ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
