Spain Bids to Host Inaugural Football 7 World Cup

Spain has submitted a bid to host the first ever Football 7 World Cup, aiming for a tournament in 2029 or 2031. The proposal will be presented at the SportCities Expo & Summit in Valladolid on 21–22 October, where organisers intend to secure official FIFA recognition for the sport.

SportCities director Raúl Calleja highlighted Football 7’s accessibility, sustainability and low‑cost infrastructure, while Football 7 WorldWide (F7WW) director Alberto Pastor and its president Didier Drogbay are supporting the effort. With roughly 300 million licences worldwide—potentially rising to 600 million if FIFA grants official status—the bid positions Spain, alongside Brazil, as a leading nation in the discipline’s development.

If successful, Spain would become the first country to host a Football 7 World Cup, marking a new milestone for the sport’s global expansion.
