Spain braces for widespread storms and extreme heat on June 15

The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) issued active storm alerts for eight autonomous communities—including Aragon, Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla‑León, Castilla‑La Mancha, Catalonia, Community of Madrid and La Rioja—due to a cold air mass in the upper atmosphere. The forecast calls for intense thunderstorms, hail, strong gusts and localized heavy rain across interior regions, especially from midday to late afternoon.

In Andalusia, a yellow storm warning was activated for Seville and the Sierra Norte, with temperatures expected to reach 42 °C during the weekend. While the early afternoon may see scattered showers, most of the day will be clear with tropical night lows above 20 °C. The combined weather pattern brings both severe thunderstorm risk and a heat wave for the southern part of the country.
