Spain business trends show regional growth amid low entrepreneur satisfaction
Data regarding business activity in Spain presents a contrasting picture between regional growth and national entrepreneur sentiment. In the province of Cuenca, the CEOE CEPYME reports a significant increase in the formation of commercial societies. Between January and August 2026, 226 companies were established, representing a 20.85% increase compared to the same period last year and the highest figure in four years.
However, a broader analysis by the payment platform Stripe highlights significant challenges for entrepreneurs in Spain. According to the report, only 25% of founders surveyed would choose to start their company in Spain again if given the opportunity, the lowest ranking among ten major economies compared. The study also notes that Spanish entrepreneurs struggle with administrative processes, scoring the ease of interacting with public administrations at just 3.3 out of 10, well below the European average of 5.4.
