Spain car insurance premiums rise up to 10% in 2026

Car insurance premiums in Spain have seen increases ranging from 4.16% to 10% so far in 2026. While the first half of the year, particularly between April and May, saw significant hikes, September has brought a slight moderation in prices.

According to analysis by Roams Insurtech, the average annual premium for basic third-party insurance is approximately 224 euros, while comprehensive coverage averages around 405 euros. The basic third-party category saw the most notable monthly decline of 4.2%. There is a significant price dispersion in the market, with a difference of over 200 euros between the cheapest and most expensive comprehensive policies.
