Spain CIS barometer shows rise in atheism and political trends

Recent data from the CIS (Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas) barometer reveals shifts in Spanish social and political landscapes. Regarding religious demographics, for the first time in the historical series, atheists (17.1%) have outnumbered practicing Catholics (15.9%) in Spain.

On the political front, the latest polling indicates the PSOE remains the most voted party with 31% of the vote, followed by the PP at 25.5%, Vox at 16.6%, and Sumar at 5.7%. Additionally, the survey shows high public concern regarding border security, with 83.6% of respondents stating that understanding between Spain and Morocco is highly important for guaranteeing border security, and 82.2% believing Spain should reinforce its borders to prevent mass entries.
