Spain: CIS report shows high ministerial turnover and low public recognition
Data from the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS) October barometer reveals that a majority of Spaniards are unfamiliar with many members of Pedro Sánchez’s cabinet. The report indicates that half of the ministers are unknown to the public, with Education and Sports Minister Milagros Tolón being the least recognized, with an 84.9% non-recognition rate.
Other ministers with low recognition levels include Sara Aagesen, Minister of Ecological Transition, and Jordi Hereu, Minister of Industry and Tourism. In contrast, Yolanda Díaz remains the most popular minister.
Since June 2018, the Sánchez administration has seen a high turnover of personnel, with 56 ministers having served during his tenure. This exceeds the number of ministers under former Prime Minister Felipe González, who had 54. Certain departments have experienced significant instability; for example, the Ministry of Health has seen six different leaders, while the Ministries of Territorial Policy and Culture have each seen five.
