Spain coach Luis de la Fuente says he prays daily, not for World Cup results
Luis de la Fuente, manager of the Spanish national football team, told reporters before the 2026 World Cup semi‑final against France that he prays to God every day, but not because of the tournament. He said he thanks God for his health and for small daily blessings, adding that it would be unfair to ask divine help only for himself and not for the opponent.
De la Fuente emphasized that his daily prayers are a personal expression of faith rather than superstition, and that he seeks health and the ability to keep fighting. Spain won the semi‑final 2‑0, securing a place in the final against Argentina.
