Spain cricket team breaks Australia's 23-year international winning record

The Spain men's cricket team has set a new international record for the longest winning streak, surpassing a 23-year-old benchmark held by Australia. Spain reached 24 consecutive victories following a series of wins in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Europe Qualifiers in Finland.

The record-breaking run included recent wins against Finland, the Isle of Man, Luxembourg, and Bulgaria. Their most recent victory against Bulgaria saw them chase a target of 60 runs in just 29 deliveries, securing a nine-wicket win. Spain's streak began in February 2023 and has spanned T20I series against the Isle of Man, Jersey, and Croatia.

Australia's previous record of 20 consecutive international wins stood since 2003. That streak, which included 17 ODIs and three Tests under the leadership of Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh, ended in May 2003 during a Test match against the West Indies.
