Spain daily menu prices rise to 14.70 euros on average

The average price of a daily menu in Spain reached 14.70 euros in September, representing a 3.5% increase compared to the previous year. According to a study conducted by Hostelería de España and Edenred, this rise is driven by increasing operational costs, including a 21.7% increase in energy products and a 1.5% rise in labor costs during the first half of the year.

Regional price variations are significant across the country. The Basque Country recorded the highest average at 16.30 euros, followed by the Balearic Islands at 16 euros and Catalonia at 15.70 euros. Conversely, the most affordable menus were found in the Canary Islands and Murcia, both averaging 13.50 euros, while Asturias, Andalusia, and Extremadura averaged 14 euros.

While restaurant turnover grew by an average of 2.7% through July, the industry reports that profit margins are narrowing. When adjusting for price effects, actual activity showed a decline of 1.6%. The daily menu remains a vital economic resource for workers seeking predictable and affordable meal options during the workday.
