Spain foreign investment rises 31% in first half of 2026

Foreign direct investment in Spain rose by 31.2% in the first half of 2026, reaching 12,446 million euros. The United States remains the leading investor, contributing 23% of the total capital, with its gross investment surging by 84% compared to the previous year.

Regional data shows a concentration of capital in the Community of Madrid, which attracted over 5,600 million euros (45.3% of the national total), followed by Catalonia with 2,358 million euros. The Valencian Community also saw significant inflows, totaling 1,845 million euros.

While gross investment is up, net investment fell by 40% due to a 171% increase in divestments, totaling 9,038 million euros. Additionally, the data center sector is seeing significant activity, with 173 projects currently in operation or planned, potentially mobilizing up to 66.9 billion euros between 2026 and 2030.
