Spain allocates €104.8 m to boost EV charging network toward 57,000 points

As of 1 July 2026 Spain’s public electric‑vehicle charging infrastructure reached 56,933 operational points, a 13.86 % increase over the end of 2025. High‑power chargers (150‑350 kW) grew 26.85 % and ultra‑rapid units above 350 kW rose 19.95 %, concentrating 59 % of sites in Catalonia, Madrid, Andalusia and the Valencian Community.

The Ministry for the Ecological Transition (MITECO) has earmarked an additional €104.8 million from the Recovery Plan for the Moves Corredores de Recarga and Moves Flotas Plus programmes. €97 million will fund 341 projects along Spain’s main road corridors, creating 2,674 new charging points each capable of at least 150 kW, with many delivering 300‑400 kW. The rollout is scheduled for 36‑42 months, with Andalusia receiving the largest share (61 projects). A further €7.8 million will support 20 projects to electrify corporate light‑vehicle fleets, including e‑bikes, motorcycles and quadricycles.

The measures aim to meet the EU Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), which requires a charging station every 60 km on the Trans‑European Transport Network by 2027, and to sustain the rapid growth of electric‑vehicle registrations across Spain.
