Spain's PP and Vox reach electoral pact for Senate FAST-MOVING

The Popular Party (PP) and Vox have reached a strategic agreement to coordinate their Senate candidacies for the general elections on November 29. The pact aims to consolidate the right-wing vote and prevent a left-wing majority in the Upper House.

Under the agreement, Vox will withdraw its own candidates in six provinces: Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Cádiz, Valencia, Castellón, and the Balearic Islands. In these areas, the PP will include an independent candidate proposed by Vox in its lists. Additionally, Vox will present only a single candidate in 14 other provinces, including Seville, Huelva, Asturias, Badajoz, Álava, Navarre, Cáceres, Huesca, Zaragoza, Alicante, Granada, Cuenca, Pontevedra, and Jaén.

The PP will not present candidates in Gipuzkoa, Girona, and Tarragona. This coordination is intended to counter the 'Senado de Progreso' coalition, formed by the PSOE and various left-wing groups. The parties noted that while their political discourses differ, they share the goal of influencing the renewal of institutions, such as the General Council of the Judiciary.
