Argentina wholesale inflation rises to 2.1% as Spanish electricity costs climb

In Argentina, the Wholesale Price Index (IPIM) accelerated to 2.1% in August, marking its highest monthly increase since May. This rise follows a period of deceleration in previous months. The increase was driven by a 2.1% rise in domestic products and a 2.9% rise in imported goods. Key contributors to the domestic increase included crude oil and gas, agricultural products, and food and beverages. The IPIM has accumulated a 19.1% increase in the first eight months of the year and a year-on-year variation of 29.8%.

In Spain, consumer electricity costs are rising significantly. According to analysis by FACUA, the average electricity bill for a user on the regulated PVPC tariff is projected to exceed 100 euros in September, potentially reaching 106.57 euros if current trends persist. This would be the highest September bill in four years. The projected cost represents a 30.5% increase compared to September 2025.
