Spain enforces summer traffic closures on La Gomera and Granada highways
The Cabildo of La Gomera will close the TF‑712 road to Vallehermoso during the nights of 3–5 August and will impose weekday closures from 16:00 to 24:00 on the Juego de Bolas–Laguna Grande route between 3 and 21 August. The measures allow the installation of protective mesh and slope‑stabilisation works, with coordination from the Garajonay National Park, the environmental unit and road services.
In mainland Spain, the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT) reports heavy congestion on the A‑44 highway near Granada, affecting the stretch between kilometre markers 143 and 154.5. A stopped vehicle at km 140.9 and high traffic volumes linked to the “Operation Summer Exit” for the Costa Tropical have caused slow traffic and long queues. The DGT has opened a contra‑flow lane to improve flow and expects around 139 500 vehicle movements in the province during the weekend.
