Spain expands blood donation drives to Asturias and Canary Islands

The Community Blood and Tissue Centre of Asturias has returned its mobile donation unit to Plaza del Conceyín in La Corredoria, operating from 14 to 17 July (09:00‑21:00) as part of the "Cada gota cuenta" campaign. The announcement lists eligibility criteria, such as age 18‑65, weight over 50 kg, good health, and outlines permanent and temporary deferrals for chronic illnesses, infectious diseases, recent surgeries, tattoos, travel, and vaccinations.

The Canary Islands Health Service’s Directorate of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy is also running a series of mobile blood‑collection campaigns across the archipelago. Fixed and mobile sites are scheduled from 14 to 17 July in locations including Alisios Shopping Centre (Gran Canaria), Leroy Merlin (Adeje, Tenerife), several hospital centres, and community venues such as the Juan Carlos I Auditorium (Arafo). The service urges residents to donate at least twice a year to maintain sufficient supplies for surgeries, oncology treatments, transplants and emergencies.
