Spain expands listeria alert, recalling fresh cheeses nationwide

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has broadened a food safety alert after detecting Listeria monocytogenes in fresh cow‑milk cheeses sold across Spain. The update adds a new Mediterranean‑flavoured cheese from the Cerrato brand and extends the recall to all batches of eight products from Cerrato, Nativo, Goya and Sabor de Casa with a shelf‑life date on or before 6 July 2026.

Consumers are urged to check their homes for the affected items and refrain from eating them. Listeriosis can cause fever, vomiting or diarrhea, and pregnant women are advised to be especially cautious. Anyone who has consumed the recalled cheese and shows symptoms should seek medical attention.
