Spain expands public employment with thousands of new vacancies

Spain is seeing a significant increase in public sector job opportunities through new employment offers from both regional and national administrations. In Extremadura, the regional government (Junta) has approved a Public Employment Offer (OEP) for 2025 consisting of 2,376 positions, representing a 29.4% increase over the previous period and the highest figure in over a decade. These roles include 746 positions in General Administration and 1,072 in the Extremadura Health Service (SES), covering both sanitary and management roles.

At the national level, the State has approved 37,017 positions across the General Administration, Security Forces and Corps, and the Armed Forces.

Prospective candidates are advised to consult the official administration portal for specific requirements, as application periods and rules vary by entity. For certain upcoming calls, the application window is scheduled from September 14 to October 9, 2026. Experts recommend reviewing the specific bases of each call regarding qualifications, nationality, and fees, noting that deadlines and holiday calculations differ between state, autonomous community, and local administrations.
