Spain extends housing energy‑efficiency subsidies through 2026

The Spanish government will keep its financial aid programmes for residential energy‑efficiency upgrades active throughout 2026. The measures, part of the EU‑backed Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, are largely funded by Next Generation EU resources and are administered by the autonomous communities. Homeowners, usufructuaries and, in some cases, tenants can receive subsidies covering up to 40 % of renovation costs, with a maximum grant of €3,000 per dwelling. Eligible works include replacing fossil‑fuel heating systems with heat pumps, aerothermal units or biomass boilers, improving thermal insulation of façades, roofs and walls, and installing higher‑performance windows. Applicants must provide an energy‑efficiency certificate before and after the works and meet minimum investment thresholds. In the Canary Islands, the Institute of Canarian Housing (ICAVI) processes the applications for Tenerife residents. In parallel, the Congress approved an extension of tax deductions for energy‑saving renovations, applying to expenses incurred in 2025 and 2026.
