Spain faces challenges in agricultural generational renewal

The agricultural sector in Spain is experiencing difficulties with generational renewal as fewer young people enter the profession. Key obstacles include low product prices, high land costs, administrative bureaucracy, and the impacts of drought, particularly in regions like Catalonia.

While some young farmers struggle with insufficient aid and the difficulty of starting without family land, others have found alternative paths to success. For instance, in Valencia, some entrepreneurs have utilized savings from other professional activities and leveraged social media to bypass intermediaries, selling produce directly to consumers through online platforms.
