Spain faces dual political scandals over election law expansion and sexual‑harassment allegations
Spain's ruling PSOE has sought to broaden the citizenship law, extending eligibility from a few thousand descendants of exiles to more than two million children, grandchildren and great‑grandchildren of any Spanish emigrant. Opposition parties PP and Vox have condemned the move as electoral fraud, accusing the government of engineering a vote‑boost in key constituencies.
In a separate case, former Lugo provincial president José Tomé faces renewed legal scrutiny after six women filed sexual‑harassment complaints. The court rejected a request to close the case, noting that "Están dispuestas a contar cómo las acosaba" and that Tomé was told "va a citar a las nuevas testigos". Five additional women are set to give testimony under the direction of the Public Prosecutor.
