Spain finishes roundabout in Villablanca and pedestrian plaza in Baiona

A new roundabout was opened on the A‑499 near Villablanca in the province of Huelva after an investment of €484,575. The single‑lane, 32‑metre circular carriageway, equipped with LED lighting and improved drainage, aims to make the busy junction safer for drivers and local residents. The project was co‑funded through European Union FEDER funds and was inspected by regional officials and the town mayor.

In Baiona, the former Hortas Reais street is being transformed into a pedestrian‑priority public plaza. The €350,000 scheme, also supported by EU funding, will convert the 430‑metre stretch into a traffic‑restricted zone with green spaces, benches and upgraded utilities, enhancing the urban environment for residents and visitors.

Both initiatives are part of regional efforts to improve road safety and promote more walkable city spaces in Spain.
