Spain food prices: Coffee and eggs more than double since 2021

A 2026 study by the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) reveals that several basic food items in Spain have more than doubled in price since 2021. Specifically, economy ground coffee blends have seen a 142% increase, while medium (M) and large (L) eggs have risen by 135% and 123%, respectively.

Milk chocolate bars have also surpassed the 100% increase threshold, rising by 101%. Overall, the OCU basket of goods has become 39.5% more expensive compared to five years ago. While recent price increases have moderated to 1.8% over the last year, fresh products have seen a more significant rise of 4.7%.
