Spain food prices see sharp rises in berries and citrus

According to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), food prices in Spain have seen significant fluctuations between August 2025 and August 2026.

Fresh berries experienced the highest increase, with prices rising by 35.7%. Other notable price hikes include fresh citrus fruits at 17.1%, green legumes at 15.9%, eggs at 12.5%, and fresh fish at 7.8%. Edible offal also saw a 6.6% increase.

Conversely, several commodities saw price decreases. Coffee and its substitutes fell by 4.2%, cane and beet sugar by 3.1%, cereals by 3%, and frozen vegetables and tubers by 2.8%. Chocolate, cocoa, and derivatives also recorded a 2.2% decline.
