Spain football broadcasting costs rise 500 euros annually over a decade
Football broadcasting costs in Spain have increased significantly over the last decade. According to a report by Roams, fans now pay up to 529 euros more per year to access football competitions compared to ten years ago.
For the 2026/27 season, convergent tariffs including fiber and mobile services have risen. Orange’s most affordable package for all football competitions has reached 103 euros per month, up from 58 euros in the 2016/17 season. Movistar’s entry-level price for full football access has risen from 80 euros per month in 2016/17 to 117 euros per month for the current season.
Movistar has implemented price increases across all 16 of its football-related tariffs. The average annual cost of its catalog has risen from 1,414 euros in the 2025/26 season to 1,485 euros in 2026/27, a 5% increase. The most substantial hikes affect the 'Ilimitado x4' plans, which see monthly increases of 18 euros, totaling 216 euros annually.
While Orange offers lower entry prices, its packages often require full commitment and minimum stay periods. In contrast, Movistar’s entry-level plans include two mobile lines and do not require a minimum stay, though they have also seen monthly increases of two euros for the 2026/27 season.
