Spain football fields undergo widespread artificial turf renovations

Municipalities across Spain are undergoing a significant wave of artificial turf renovations in football fields during the summer break. These upgrades utilize advanced technology, such as high-resistance polyethylene filaments and elastic prefabricated bases, to improve durability, reduce maintenance, and lower surface heat. Many of these new installations aim to meet strict international standards, including FIFA Quality certifications.

In A Estrada, the Novo Municipal stadium is entering the final stages of a long-awaited renovation project. Seven companies have submitted bids to handle two specific lots: turf replacement and lighting upgrades. The project, which aims to address worn-out playing surfaces and inadequate lighting, is expected to be awarded in the coming weeks with a four-month execution period.

Other regional examples include El Puerto de Santa María, which is replacing natural grass with high-resistance artificial turf, and Vitoria-Gasteiz, where fields in Zaramaga and Adurtzabal have already been updated with new synthetic surfaces.
