Spain funds €262 million for industrial decarbonisation, floating wind

The European Commission has approved a €50 million grant for Spain’s industrial decarbonisation plan, aimed at replacing fossil‑fuel heat with renewable energy and advanced technologies. The programme, financed through the Innovation Fund 2025 and using the new “Auctions as a Service” mechanism, will support projects until 31 December 2026, with semi‑annual payments linked to verified decarbonised heat output.

Separately, the Spanish government has earmarked €212 million for six ports to develop floating wind capacity, positioning Spain as a European leader in the technology. A Coruña receives €100 million, supporting five industrial projects, while the remaining funds are allocated to five other ports to spur the next generation of offshore wind farms.
