Spain funeral costs range from 3,000 to 5,600 euros
Funeral and burial costs in Spain vary significantly by region, ranging from approximately 3,000 euros in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to over 5,600 euros in Segovia. A study by Selectra and data from the consumer association Asescon break down average expenses, including 1,200 euros for a coffin, 800 euros for cemetery services, and 600 euros for funeral home fees.
Due to these costs, approximately 44.3% of the Spanish population, or about 22 million people, hold death insurance. According to Unespa, coverage is widespread across various demographics, with high adoption rates in provinces like Cádiz, Ávila, and Ciudad Real. While coverage is highest among individuals over 50, significant participation is also noted among those under 35.
Insurance policy prices also fluctuate by location. Santa Cruz de Tenerife offers the most economical annual policies, while Tarragona, Madrid, and Segovia report higher costs, particularly for policyholders over the age of 50.
