Spain: Galicia and Bierzo launch new labor and social dialogue initiatives

The Xunta de Galicia, the Confederation of Employers of Galicia (CEG), and the UGT union have signed a preliminary agreement for an integral plan (2026-2029) aimed at managing labor leaves and workplace reintegration. The plan focuses on three axes: improving prevention and occupational well-being, enhancing healthcare assistance, and ensuring the co-responsibility of benefits. Proposed measures include advanced prevention programs, psychological and musculoskeletal support services for SMEs, and specialized units to simplify bureaucratic procedures.

In the Bierzo region, the Regional Council, unions (CCOO and UGT), and the employers' association (Fele) have established the area's first formal social dialogue space. This initiative seeks to improve employment quality, detect regional economic problems, and foster coordination between employers and workers to attract investment and retain young talent.
