Spain highlights rural destinations in Basque Country and Aragon

Spain offers diverse rural destinations for travelers seeking history and nature. In the Basque Country, the municipality of Gatika in the province of Vizcaya is noted for its traditional architecture and the Butrón Castle. The castle, a Gothic structure built over a medieval tower, underwent a romantic-style remodeling in the 19th century by architect Francisco de Cubas.

In the Aragon region, the town of Alhama de Aragón in Zaragoza provides a destination focused on thermal waters. The area features historical sites such as a 14th-century castle and a 17th-century Mudéjar-style church. The town is also known for its thermal baths, which have been utilized since Roman times, and the modernista-style Termas Pallarés buildings.
