Spain hosts events celebrating Hispanic heritage and historical ties to the Americas

The 28th edition of the Catholics and Public Life Congress, organized by the Asociación Católica de Propagandistas, will take place in Madrid from November 13 to 15. Under the theme ‘America and Spain: the faith that unites us. A round trip’, the event aims to promote ‘Hispanidad’ as a civilization linking Spain and the Americas through shared faith and historical institutions.

The congress will present a Manifesto for Hispanidad, highlighting the historical legacy of Isabel I of Castile and the development of legal and social frameworks such as the Laws of the Indies and the humanist thought of Francisco de Vitoria. The manifesto emphasizes the dignity of the human person and the Greco-Latin and Christian traditions as foundational elements of this shared identity.

In Segovia, the newspaper El Adelantado de Segovia is celebrating its 125th anniversary at the Real Alcázar. The commemorative event features discussions on the role of Spain in the American Revolution and the importance of independent journalism and freedom of expression in Spain and Ibero-America. The gathering includes historians and international figures, such as representatives from the Daughters of the American Revolution.
