Spain hosts film festivals celebrating women in rural and urban settings

Spain is hosting significant film initiatives focused on women's perspectives. The ninth edition of the National Cycle of Cinema and Rural Women will take place across approximately twenty locations in the province of León between October 15 and November 15. Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the program features seven film titles accompanied by colloquiums and participatory activities designed to highlight the contributions of women in rural environments.

Simultaneously, the ninth edition of the Cine por Mujeres Madrid festival is scheduled from October 27 to November 8, 2026. The festival will feature nearly 70 feature films across 18 venues in central Madrid, spanning fiction, documentary, and animation. The program includes an international competition with works from various countries, a Spanish competition, and specialized focuses such as Mexican cinema and debut films.
